El Coronel Ocell (Colonel Bird)

The Theatre Group "La Trifulga dels Fútils" are back for a one night special at the Institut del Teatre with their amazing performance of El Coronel Ocell, a show performed to much acclaim at the Alternative Arts festival in Barcelona this summer.

The award winning play by Bulgarian dramatist Hristo Boytchev is based in a mental institute in the war torn Balkans. For me it is primarily about hope in the midst of desperation, of finding novel ways to heal ourselves through solidarity with others and shared purpose. And who better to interpret this great drama than people who themselves have struggled with the challenges of mental health problems.

It was truly an amazing performance which made me fly with the birds. I certainly won't be missing the repeat performance this Friday 17th November.
